Why the tooth is extracted?

Removing the tooth can help keep infection from spreading to other areas of your mouth.

A tooth that is severely damaged may need to be removed. We will assess the area and request an in-office x-ray be taken before deciding on the best treatment for your tooth.

Once a consultation has occurred, and the patient fully understands the procedure, your dentist will request the appropriate appointment time for the procedure. General anesthetic may be recommended, especially if several or all of your teeth need to be removed. General anesthetic prevents pain in the whole body and will make you sleep through the procedure. Dr. Mah and his associates may recommend a referral to an oral surgeon for a more complex surgical treatment plan.

For an uncomplicated procedure your dentist will give you a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed, followed by post op care instructions to take home for best healing results.

The removed tooth can be replaced with an implant, bridge or a denture. Your dentist will discuss in detail the best options for replacing your tooth.
